Welcome cocktail: Thursday, May 7
The welcome cocktail will take place in the wonderful setting of Palazzo Venturi Ginori that nowadays hosts the Victor Hugo Institute.
The Palace, dated back the 16th Century, was built under the Rucellai-Medici family. Belonging to different families, the property went back to one of the member of the Medici family , the Cardinal Giovan Carlo de’ Medici, brother of the  Grand Duke Ferdinando II, who enriched and adorned the Palace.
The Victor Hugo Institute is part of the Mission Laïque Française (Mlf) and it complies with its basic principles, especially with the teaching of the French culture and language, besides the local and English languages. It is the only institute in Florence to cover different stages of education, from the nursery to the high school.
The Victor Hugo Institute represents the fil rouge with one of the main topic of the Congress: multilingualism.
The beautiful facade overlooking the garden , the cave, and the big statue of Polyphemus, a masterpiece of Antonio Novelli, a pupil of Giambologna, together with the multicultural setting are the ideal frame for welcoming the CPLOL Congress attendees.
